Developing Leaders Among Orphans.

Give Today.

Uganda is home to over 1 million orphaned children.

More than 62 percent of refugees in Uganda are from South Sudan, where people face violence, food insecurity, and a lack of access to basic services such as health and education. Another 28 percent come from the DRC, where Congolese are escaping from inter-ethnic violence and attacks on civilians.

Build A Better Us (BBU) is a faith-based nonprofit who mission is to support and equip individuals & families in building better communities. We believe that in order to build stronger communities, we must not only care for ourselves, but we must care deeply for each other, as God cares for us.

This is how we show love.

We are now partnering with an orphanage in Uganda to support this mission globally. Our goal is to surround 20 orphans with love and resources to impact their lives for the better.

Our Approach

It all begins with love.

We believe God has commissioned us to love God, love ourselves, love others and love his creation. Strengthening these relationships is honoring to who God has called us to know. Build a Better Us structures all of its initiative and programs around love.

Better relationships create a better world.

Better people love better. They create better. They server better. Our goal is to create a better world for the generations that come after us. This isn’t something that we prioritize just in our backyard, but with our brothers and sister around the globe.

Currently, we are carrying out our vision and mission in the U.S. and Uganda.

We believe in a holistic approach.

In order to support the whole self, we focus on physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Physically, we support initiatives that provide shelter, food and healthy environments for those we serve. Emotionally, we support mentorship, one-on-one coaching, and therapy. Spiritually, we support bible study and spiritual growth.

Together we
are better.

The goal of our ministry is to invest in the lives of the vulnerable so  they can experience the flourishing God intends.

Human beings have been designed by God to enjoy loving relationships with God, self, others,  and the rest of creation. The goal of our ministry is to invest in the lives of the vulnerable so  they can experience the flourishing God intends.

Holistic development to help orphans become Leaders.

In 2007 while traveling to Africa, I was confronted with a grave reality after walking through the market. Why are there so many small children on the streets by themselves during a school day? What if someone kidnaps them? Are they able to go to school? Why do we live in the wealthiest nation in the world and yet let Gods children perish on the street for what we pay for a cup of coffee? My heart burned with passion and no outlet until we discovered the opportunity to develop orphans into leaders!

Uganda is currently host to more than 123,000 South Sudanese who have fled civil war. Most of these are women and children. Due to the civil and social unrest, children often suffer neglect as well as sexual and physical abuse. Specifically in rural areas, as many as 33% of girls are married by age 15, making child marriage and pregnancy all too common. Kids are easily sex trafficked, join gangs, or literally die on the street because they lack Basic Needs and care. We can change with with minimum inconvenience to our lives.

We  believe God has placed, and will continue to place, the vulnerable  in front of us so we can walk alongside them for a lifetime. Our  mission is to work in areas of the world with high populations of  vulnerable women and children, where we partner with local  leaders to fulfill the Great Commission.
